Hailstorm affecting a Commercial Property
Ms. Corfidi provided trial testimony in August 2022 for a case involving a commercial building that had sustained damage from a hailstorm. The commercial insurance company declined to pay for damages because hail was not specifically reported at the property. Therefore, a detailed analysis of all storm reports and radar information was provided around the property. Ms. Corfidi researched 5 hailstorms where radar signatures were consistent with 1″ hail or larger at the property during the search period. Hail size is often underestimated or undetected according to peer-reviewed literature. The jury found in favor of the property owner, with a multi-million dollar verdict against the commercial insurance company.
